Mobile advertising network Millenial Media announced today that the Android OS has surpassed Apples iOS as the leading smartphone OS on their network.
The news lends further support for a prediction Gartner Research made in September that the open-source Android OS would be the leading smartphone OS by 2014.
Android phones outsold iPhones for the first time in early 2010, and a report from Nielsen recently revealed that Android increased its share of new smartphone buyers between January and November while Apple?s share remained about steady and BlackBerry?s decreased.

21st Century Education

A Quote from the past:
According to "21st Century Learning" in 2002 American writer and futurist Alvin Toffler once said "the illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn."

We often talk about the Digital Divide how some have access to computer technology and how others dont, this problem is one that our goverment is continuosly trying to improve with such promises as every child will have access to a computer. It is important that this divide be eliminated in Australia and the use of e-learning in the classroom I feel will help ensure this happens. The reduction in price of Internet wider communication access and cheaper PC,s and Laptops will help this happen.

Wikipedia says

The "Digital Divide" refers to the gap between people with effective access to digital and information technology and those with very limited or no access at all. It includes the imbalance both in physical access to technology and the resources and skills needed to effectively participate as a digital citizen.
"Knowledge Divide" reflects the access of various social groupings to information and knowledge, typically by gender race and  location.
The term "Global Digital Divide" refers to differences in access between countries

According to a Framework Definitions Document, students should master the four following interconnected knowledge, skills and expertise in order to "succeed in work and life in the 21st century:"

  1. Core Subjects and 21st Century Themes: English, reading, foreign language, math, economics, science, geography, history and government AND global awareness, civic literacy, health literacy, and financial, economic, business and entrepreneurial literacy.
  2. Learning and Innovation Skills: Creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, and communication and collaboration.
  3. Information, Media and Technology Skills: Information literacy, media literacy, and information, communications and technology literacy.
  4. Life and Career Skills: Flexibility and adaptability, initiative and self-direction, social and cross-cultural skills, productivity and accountability, and leadership and responsibility.
